WHO WE ARE - BOLD CITY JAZZ SOCIETY

Our Story Begins

The story of the Bold City Jazz Society (BCJS) began in 2024, when six passionate jazz enthusiasts—Theresa Warren, Scott Manson, Michael and Elizabeth Bertty, David Sanders, and Jabari Jelani—came together through a shared love of the music and a deep commitment to their community. Drawing on their diverse experiences, they dedicated countless hours to supporting local college jazz students through fundraising and community engagement.

Yet, they realized something was missing. To truly elevate the jazz scene in the Bold City, they needed to foster deeper connections—linking middle and high school students, professional musicians, educators, government agencies, industry partners, and jazz fans alike. Out of this realization, a vision began to take shape. With a clear mission and guiding bylaws, the Bold City Jazz Society was born—committed to expanding jazz’s impact and legacy for generations to come.
